Swiss National Park is located in Engadin, in the Canton of Graubünden.
It was created in 1914 and is the largest nature reserve in Switzerland. The park stretches out over an area of 169 km² and includes an alpine region ranging in altitude from 1400 amd 3200 m. The national park was created with the intention of conservation, and does not interfere with the natural development of the animal and plant world. The area in well known all over Europe because of the richness of species of both plants and animals. Be amazed by the incredible nature, with forests, lakes, rock faces, snow covered glaciers and much more. From June to August you can watch the multi-coloured and wide ranging plants. In July and August the warm sun melts the last remaining snow - the perfect tie for a high altitude hike. During a hike, with a little luck and patience you might get a glimpse of one of the many animals. From red deer and chamois to ibex, marmots and golden eagles. Geologically, the region is characterised primarily by the limestone rock. The climate is mainly dry, with very little rain.
